Biofuels can be produced from plants, agriculture, industrial waste and any other waste. Biofuels are carbon neutral. The biomass used for the biofuel can grow fast. Biofuels are most common fuel in Europe.

Bio energy is a renewable energy manufacture from the available natural resources. Bio energy is one of the largest energy. By 2010 there are 35gw of electric energy are installed all over the world in this 7gw are installed in United States. In Europe there are some crops grown for Biofuel production (sugar beet, wheat, willow and rapeseed)

Session 8: Industrial Biotechnology & Microbial Biotechnology

Industrial bio-technologists come up with ideas for manufacturing products using less energy, reducing waste and still ensuring higher yields at reasonable pricing. Industrial biotechnology is one of the pollution prevention, resource conservation, and cost reduction. If developed to its full potential, industrial biotechnology has larger impact on the world compared to health care and agricultural biotechnology. Industrial biotechnology has produced enzymes for use in our daily lives and uses. Industrial biotechnology is observed in 6000 BC to manufacture wine. In the 1800s, Louis Pasteur proved that fermentation is the result of microbial activity. In 1940 large scale of fermentation products are developed.

Microbial biotechnology: For many years the microbes are used for preparation of bread, wine, and beer. Microbes (or microorganisms) are organisms that are too small to be seen by the unaided eye. They include bacteria, fungi, protozoa, microalgae, and viruses. Microbes live in soil, water, food, and animal intestines, as well as in more extreme settings such as rocks, glaciers, hot springs, and deep-sea vents.
