Session 02: Oceanography and Marine Geology

Oceanography is greater than the sum of these specific branches. Oceanographers use a variety of tools to study the ocean, and many of these studies involve more than one branch. Oceanographers collect discrete water, sediment and biological samples using ships (Research Vessels). They deploy autonomous sampling systems such as buoys and gliders to collect data over time and space scales that cannot be done with a ship. The knowledge gained from all of these types of measurements allows oceanographers to do many things including, but not limited to:
  • better predict (using models) changes in weather and climate improve the forecast for hazards; natural (e.g. hurricanes) or man-made (e.g. oil spills)
  • assess the impact of pollutants on the quality of water in the ocean
  • Protect the quality of the water in the ocean in the face of increasing human demands (e.g. fisheries, tourism, shipping, offshore oil & gas, offshore wind farms, etc.)
Marine Geology is widely recognized as a distinct sub-discipline of geoscience. The geology of marine realms is fundamentally different from the geology of continents. Seawater covers 71% of the Earth's surface and the deep ocean basins make up most of this marine realm, constituting some 60% of the Earth's surface.

Session 03: EarthEcology and Ecosystems
Ecosystems became an integrated part and extremely important tools for educational and research studies on the structure and function of ecosystems. Ecologists could share their novel research insights under this session focusing the below mentioned topics:
  • In-depth overview of the philosophy, mathematical foundation, and ecosystem modelling protocols in modern ecological research;
  • Applications of the mathematical and modelling frameworks to coastal ecosystems by means of a large number of examples from different regions of the world;
  • Novel approaches to the modelling of coastal ecosystems;
  • Examining the linkages between physical, chemical, and biological processes in estuarine and coastal ecosystems; and

Session 04: Mineralogy and Petrology
Mineralogy, Petrology, is the basic requirement of earth science, to study the earth structure, composition of material and its evolution, which has important scientific and practical significance for guiding the geological survey of the related region and finding mineral resources. Petrology studies all kinds of rocks produced by the nature. Mineralogy and petrology stand as the backbone of the geosciences. Complete knowledge of minerals and rocks and the process of formation and association are mandatory for practicing professionals and advanced students.

Session 05: Geosciences
Geoscience is a wide-ranging set of disciplines, including all aspects of the study of the solid and molten parts of the Earth and how they interact with our environment. Prior to the 19th century, most people (including scientists) considered the geology of the planet to be quite stable and unchanging except for occasional catastrophic – but superficial – events. This view began to change at the end of the 18th century, when James Hutton first proposed that the Earth was much older than the 6000 year-age proposed by Archbishop Usher in the previous century. Hutton explained the unconformable relationship between ancient strata in terms of a protracted record of modern Earth processes, and so rejecting the prevalent geologic theory of the time: catastrophism.

Session 06: Agriculture and Bio resources
During the last century, agricultural engineering has effected major changes in agriculture with regard to labour productivity and specialization in the different sectors of plant production and livestock production. Public concern for environmental issues, e.g. emissions of volatile compounds, water pollution through plant nutrients and agrochemicals, has resulted in research and technology development in the field of environmental engineering. Agricultural engineering has therefore to keep pace with trends in science and technology, e.g. fundamental developments in the information and communication technology, biotechnology, materials technology, microelectronics and mechatronics. Technology watch, networking and cooperation are key words for agricultural engineers.

Environment health covers Environmental agents and chemical compounds in nature, as well as pharmaceutical compounds which might be synthesized for clinical use by of human beings. These substances may also produce toxic effects in residing organisms includes disturbance in increase patterns, discomfort, ailment and death. Health professionals need access to Environmental health statistics for lots reasons. Certainly, public focus about human health dangers from chemical and biologic agents in the environment has risen dramatically in latest years. Similarly, converting tendencies in health care and an emphasis on prevention, coupled with computer literacy, all support the need for effectively available information about the impacts of hazardous substances in the environment on individual and public health.

Session 08: GIS and Remote Sensing
Although remote sensing techniques have primarily been viewed as a means for gathering data that are then interpreted by the user, they are increasingly serving other roles in scientific and applied research. Remotely sensed data on natural and anthropogenic features such as vegetation cover, land use, topography, and hydrography now serve as input to a range of simulation models, including hydrologic, climatic, ecological, and economic models.
Environmental Sociology promotes research and professional activities that explore the relationships between social systems and the ecosphere, including interdisciplinary work that explores interactions within and between institutions, social groups, and natural and built environments. Environmental Sociology also includes study of the origins and impacts of technology, the social causes of environmental change, the environmental causes of social change, and the consequences of social inequalities and power relationships for socio-environmental dynamics.

The world is heating up. The increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases, such as CO2, in the Earth’s atmosphere are causing the planet’s climate system to retain more energy. The average temperature of the Earth's surface increased by an estimated 0.7°C since the beginning of the 20th century and, according to the most recent projections of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, could rise by 1.6°C –4.3°C compared to a 1850–1900 baseline by 2100.
The effects of increased CO2 in the atmosphere and changing climatic conditions are expected to include:
  • increased climate variability, with changes in both the frequency and severity of extreme weather events
  • altered distributions of certain infectious diseases
  • increased sea levels and ocean acidification
Does it really matter if many species go extinct? The world would certainly be a less interesting place with less biodiversity, but would it affect us?

Session 11: Pollution and Climate Change
Pollutants refers to the infection of surroundings and the encompassing atmosphere via distinct sorts of pollution (chemicals and energies). Climate change refers to the variant in ordinary weather styles brought about due to pollution. The issue of environmental pollutants and weather exchange has become an international concern due to their unfavorable affects to the bodily and biological entities of the environment.
Pesticide and fertilizer: Pesticide and fertilizer runoff are developing huge lifeless zones oxygen-depleted areas wherein many marine species battle to live to tell the tale. The worlds largest useless area, located within the Gulf of Mexico, is roughly the scale of Connecticut.

Session 12: Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology
As a subject of study, the atmospheric sciences encompass all the processes that occur in the atmosphere, together with its links with other systems, mainly the hydrosphere, cryosphere, lithosphere, biosphere, and outer space. As such it is an extensive discipline and the task of describing the main challenges is not an easy one, and entails a fair degree of overlap with some of the other grand challenges in the earth and environmental sciences. The coupling of the Earth’s atmosphere and underlying surface through mass and energy fluxes has an important role in atmospheric chemistry and physics in addition to boundary layer meteorology and ecosystem research.

The French government committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% compared to their 1990 levels by year 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
Paris Climate Agreement:
The French government committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% compared to their 1990 levels by year 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. This objective was incorporated into the Energy Code by the Energy Transition for Green Growth Act 2015 (LTECV). This same year, the Paris Conference (COP21) was held by the French Government with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. COP21 led to the adoption of the Paris Climate Agreement.
In this respect, the Conseil d’Etat judged that the State substantially exceeded the first carbon budget set for the 2015-2018 period and insufficiently reduced emissions for year 2019 considering the second carbon budget set for the 2019-2023 period. In these circumstances, the Conseil d’Etat gave the French Government three months to justify, in the context of a supplemental investigation, that its refusal to take additional actions is compatible with complying with the trajectory set by the carbon budgets and reaching the 40% reduction target by 2030.

The global carbon footprint management market size is expected to grow from USD 9.0 billion in 2020 to USD 12.2 billion by 2025, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 6.2% during the forecast period. Companies are increasingly adopting the carbon footprint management software across verticals due to the need for adhering to carbon emission compliances. This has increased the demand for carbon footprint management software across industries. The increasing government initiatives across the world are expected to boost the growth of the carbon footprint management market.
