Biography

Janet is a practicing industrial fashion designer, working with a broad range of industrial partners throughout Ireland and UK. Her research interests focus on anthropometrics for sportswear and body protection, investigating how design and smart textiles can positively affect users wellbeing. Recent projects include investigating and developing: • Sustainable high performance sportswear • Moisture management and airflow enhancement in body armour • 3D thermoplastic shaping of body armour for female officers • Textile products for the rehabilitation of injured greyhounds.

She is currently coordinating a stakeholders network which is tasked with developing a design policy positioning paper for local government in Northern Ireland.
