Professor of Engineering Science
University of Oxford and Trinity College
Alexander M. Korsunsky received his degree of Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) from Merton College, University of Oxford, following undergraduate education in theoretical physics. He has held visiting positions at the National University of Singapore, University Roma Tré, and ENSICAEN in France. His current appointment is Professor of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford and Trinity College, Oxford.
Prof Korsunsky research is devoted to developing improved understanding of integrity and reliability of engineered and natural structures and systems, from high-performance metallic alloys to polycrystalline ceramics to natural hard tissue, such as human dental enamel and seashell nacre. His expertise concerns structure and properties across the scales, and the advanced methods of materials characterisation and modelling.
