Biography

Shira Bukchin Peles is a behavioral data analyst. She has a long-standing interest in technological choices and behavior. She employs field studies and large-scale surveys, develops survey tools, and analyzes large data sets to better understand behavior, decision making, and their psychological underpinnings. Her research mainly focuses on the role of personal variables in sustainable behavior, and specifically - the adoption of sustainable technology. She took part in agricultural and rural development projects in several developing countries, where she studied small scale agriculture and the choices farmers make. She also conducted various studies on sustainable education. Dr. Bukchin Peles is currently leading an interdisciplinary, international research group that investigates the reception of emerging technologies (such as nanotechnologies) in Israel, Germany, and the US. The study explores policy, regulation, and mainly public attitudes towards the technologies. Dr. Bukchin Peles holds a B.Sc. in Biology and an MA and Ph.D. in Public Policy, from Tel Aviv University.
