Biography
Hossein Nezamabadi-pour is the professor of Electrical Engineering at the Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman (SBUK), and the co-founder and director of Intelligent Data Processing Laboratory (IDPL) at SBUK. He received his MSc and PhD degrees (with honors) in Electrical Engineering from the Tarbait Moderres University, Tehran, Iran in 2000 and 2004, respectively. Since then, he has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering at the SBUK, Kerman, Iran. He is the author and co-author of more than 400 peer reviewed journal and conference papers. His publications has received more than seven thousands citations leading to an h-index of 33. Some of his articles are available in the Science Direct Top 25 hottest articles. He has supervised and graduated 5 Ph.D. and 63 M.Sc. students. Currently he serves as the editorial board member of Journal of Machine Vision and Image Processing (JMVIP), and Journal of Computer and Knowledge Engineering (JCKE). He also served as the technical and organizational committees of more than 20 conferences. He was the chair of four conferences in the field of computational intelligence which were supported and published by the IEEE. In addition, He founded and served as the first chairman of the Swarm Intelligence and Evolutionary Computation Conference (CSIEC) in 2016. He is a recipient of the outstanding researcher award by SBUK in 2009, 2012, 2013 and 2018 and earned provincial distinguished research awards in 2010 and 2016. He was a visiting researcher at the Neurobiology Sector of the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA), Trieste, Italy in 2008 and a visiting professor at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia, in 2011. He has given more than 15 invited lectures and talks.
Research Interest
The research interests of Hossein Nezamabadi-pour include image processing, pattern recognition, soft computing, and evolutionary computation. He authored the book titled: "Genetic Algorithm: Basic Concepts and Advanced Topics", as well as co-authored several book chapters.
