Biography

M.S. Palaniswami is a research advisory member of the ICAR, Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Coimbatore and ICAR, Central Potato Research Institute, Shimla, India and is the chief editor of the journal ENTOMON published by the Association for Advancement of Entomology, Kerala Agricultural University, Trivandrum, India. He is the recipient of ICAR junior fellowship and senior fellowship. After becoming the principal scientist, professor, he was the head, Division of Crop Protection during 1997 to 2004 and as National Project Co-ordinator (Tuber Crops) during 2003 to 2010. In between he headed CTCRI as the in charge/acting director. He has more than 170 publications in national and international. He has authored six books and 25 book chapters. He has guided scholars for doctoral, Post Doctoral and M. Sc. biotechnology and one of his Ph.D. students received Jawaharlal Nehru Award for the outstanding research doctoral thesis 2006 adjudged by the ICAR, New Delhi. He has worked as the editor/ chief editor of the Journal of Root Crops, published by the Indian society for Root Crops, CTCRI during 1986 - 1995. Currently working as the chief editor of ENTOMON and edited and brought out six volumes 2013 to 2018. As an invited expert contributed in the whitefly meeting organised by the Melinda & Bill Gates Foundation, at Seattle, USA in June 2012. He deliberated in the First International whitefly symposium, Kolymbari, Crete, Greece. 20 - 24 May 2013. He has received many awards.
