Biography

Dongwen Wang is a professor of Biomedical Informatics at Arizona State University. Before coming to Arizona, Professor Wang was previously on faculty at Columbia University and University of Rochester. He served in various leadership roles for biomedical informatics research, development, and education. His research focuses on modeling and representation of biomedical knowledge in computer-interpretable format, management of biomedical data in specific context of workflow and team collaboration, development and dissemination of online resources, and delivery of technology-mediated behavioral interventions to facilitate knowledge translation, healthcare processes, and patient outcomes. His work has been applied to address real-world challenges such as improvement of childhood immunization rate, support of post-CABG critical pathway, screening of patients with major depression, assistance of diabetic foot-care, enhancement of visit compliance in ambulatory mental health care, facilitation of subject recruitment and retention for clinical research, and management of HIV/AIDS patients. These works have been published in various journals and presented at national and international conferences.
