Tokyo, officially Tokyo Metropolis is the capital of Japan and one of its 47 prefectures. The Greater Tokyo Area is the most populous metropolitan area in the world. It is the seat of the Emperor of Japan and the Japanese government. Tokyo is in the Kanto region on the southeastern side of the main island Honshu and includes the Izu Islands and Ogasawara Islands. Tokyo ranked first in the Global Economic Power Index and fourth in the Global Cities Index. Tokyo has the largest metropolitan economy in the world. In 2015, Tokyo was named the Most Live able City in the world by the magazine Monocle and it ranked first in the world in the Safe Cities Index.

There are many famous places to visit in Tokyo, Japan. They are Senso-jiUeno Zoo, Disneysea and Disney land and Tokyo Imperial Palace. The Senso-ji is an ancient Buddhist temple. It is Tokyo's oldest temple and one of its most significant and formerly associated with the Tendai sect of Buddhism, it became independent after World War II.  There is very olden zoo which was opened in 19th century known as Ueno Zoo, managed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. The zoo is in Ueno Park, a large urban park that is home to museums, a small Amusement park, and other attractions.The Tokyo Imperial Palace is the primary residence of the Emperor of Japan. It is a large park-like area located in the Chiyoda ward of Tokyo. It is built on the site of the old Edo Castle. The total area including the gardens is 3.41 square kilometres (1.32 sq mi). 

Tokyo also has numerous outlying islands and 36% of the total land area of the prefecture was designated as Natural Parks (second only to Shiga Prefecture), namely the Chichibu Tama KaiFuji-Hakone-Izu, and Ogasawara National Parks (the last a UNESCO World Heritage Site); Meiji no Mori Takao Quasi-National Park; and Akikawa Kyuryo, Hamura Kusabana Kyuryo, Sayama, Takao Jinba, Takiyama, and Tama Kyuryo Prefectural Natural Parks. Tokyo features many internationally famous forms of Modern Architecture including Tokyo International Forum, Asahi Beer Hall, Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower, NTT Docomo Yoyogi Building and Rainbow Bridge. Tokyo also features two distinctive towers: Tokyo Tower and the New Tokyo Skytree which is the tallest tower in Japan and the second tallest structure in the world.
