Biography

Muganga Raymond obtained his B. Pharmacy degree from the National University of Rwanda in 2000, his M. Pharm in Pharmacology degree in 2004 from the Western Cape University (South Africa) and his PhD in Biomedical and Biopharmaceutical Sciences in 2012 from the University of Liège (Belgium). He is registered as pharmacist with the Rwanda National Pharmacy Council since 2013. He was on Postdoctoral fellowship in 2013, in 2015 and 2018 in Belgium. He has been on the University of Rwanda School of Medicine and Pharmacy academic staff since 2001, but his present position (since 2015) is that of Senior Lecturer and visiting Lecturer at the University of Liege. He was the Head of Pharmacy Department (2005-2007) and current Chairperson of the National Pharmacy Council. He is the member of Research Committee at Ministry of Health in Rwanda. Raymond’s areas of interest are Traditional Plant Medicines, phytomedicines and rational use of medicines. He is coordinator of a five-year project on the optimization of Rwandese pharmacopoeia and UR-ARES-R4 project. Some of his on-going research projects are: Quality control and standardization of phytomedicines produced in Rwanda, Phytochemical, pharmacological and toxicological studies of medicinal plants used to treat Asthma in Rwanda and Phytomedicine value chain development in Rwanda.
