Eric Akbar Manolson has worked with people with special needs in Canada and the United States for over 30 years. He has given workshops on participatory music and movement in various settings in many countries. He has created programs for adults considered intellectually handicapped and for survivors of traumatic brain injury. Eric is the founder of The Manolson Musical Approach which helps caregivers and professionals learn how to create successful outcomes with their clients and loved ones through music. He is exploring how this can bring about attitudinal shifts in dementia care. Currently at Bishop’s University, he is extending his musical experience and knowledge, which will allow him to better evaluate the benefits of music and creativity with people experiencing Alzheimer’s disease and attitudinal shifts in dementia care.
