Biography

Metin Basaranoglu has received his Medical Doctor degree from Istanbul University in 1993. Then he pursued internal Medicine and Gastroenterology fellowship in Turkey. He completed his postdoctoral studies in St. Louis University School of Medicine/Liver Centre, St. Louis/MO, USA (2006-2007). He performed basic science research under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Brent A. N. Tetri, St. Louis, MO, USA. He developed fatty liver mice models (ALIOS mice) and studied oxidative stress on this model. He published one book chapter (Metabolic Aspects of Chronic Liver Diseases) and one book (NASH/NAFLD) published in NY/USA in 2008 and 2009. He was awarded twice by AASLD (American Study of Liver Diseases-1998 and 2002) as a young investigator; once by EASL (European Study of Liver Diseases-2009), and once with a silver medal by FALK, Germany 2010.
