Biography

Victoria Naipal is a climate scientist working in the field of soil carbon dynamics at the Ecole Normale Superieur in the Geosciences department in Paris. She come from Suriname, a small green country in South America, where she also did her bachelors in land and management. Afterwards she moved to the Netherlands to do her master of science in Climate Studies at Wageningen University. She did her PhD at the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg, Germany where she developed her own global soil erosion model. Most of her postdoc time, she spend in France at the laboratory for climate and environment located in Saclay, working closely with Philippe Ciais and Bertrand Guenet on the topic of carbon losses on agricultural land due to erosion. Her current projects are on the climate mitigation potential of mangrove forest ecosystems and on the sustainable management of agricultural soils to reduce soil erosion and carbon and nutrient losses.
