Biography

Fabian Friedrich is a pharmacist-biochemist specialized in molecular biology and biotechnology. He has completed his PhD in molecular biology in 1996, at Fundacao Oswaldo Cruz, Brazil. In 1993 he completed his MSc in molecular biology at Fundacao Osvaldo Cruz, Brazil, and in 1988 completed his specialization in biotechnology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. His graduation in pharmacy-biochemistry was completed in 1988, at the Federal University of Santa Catarina Brazil. He has 17 years of experience in molecular biology and biotechnology applied to human and microbial genetics. During this period he was chief of laboratories, developing activities related to DNA and RNA extraction, PCR, nucleotide sequencing, and analysis of RNA, DNA, protein and genome databases using molecular biology programs. He developed activities related to the detection of pathogenic microorganisms and genetic diseases, genotyping, fetal sexing, quantification of viral load, and analysis of mutant and recombinant organisms. He has published more than 16 papers in reputed journals. During four years he was teacher of biochemistry, molecular biology, virology and biotechnology of graduation students. At the moment he is a pharmacist of the Secretary of Health of the Municipality of Blumenau, City Hall of Blumenau, Brazil.
