Biography

Prof. Hans-Beat Burgi is a permanent academic guest at the Chemistry Department of the University of Zurich, Professor Emeritus at the University of Bern, Switzerland and a co-director of the Zurich School of Crystallography, a two-week intense course for international students, which was inaugurated in 2007. His main interests are centered on static and dynamic structural chemistry and on the technique of X-ray diffraction. He directs (together with Prof. Kim Baldridge) the Sinergia project "Structure Elucidation of Disordered Crystals from Diffuse Scattering, Crystal Modeling, and Supercomputing" supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation. The project is a collaborative undertaking with the Spallation Neutron Source at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (SNS/ORNL).
