Biography

Ketevan Chagunava is a cardiologist and head of Department of Functional Methods of Diagnostics at New Hospitals, a premier clinic in Tbilisi, Georgia, and senior researcher at I.Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. In past, she worked as cardiologist at Tbilisi N1 Clinic Hospital, as head doctor of Out-Patient Department at Private Cardiological Clinic VAGI. She also worked as cardiologist and radiologist (cardioechoscopy), and a senior scientific researcher of Department of Methods of Functional Diagnostic at the National Center of Therapy, where she completed her PhD. Ketevan Chagunava graduated from the Tbilisi State Medical Institute’s Faculty of Therapy at the age of 23 and completed her post-graduation studies at the State Medical Academy at the age of 27, specializing in cardiology. K.Chagunava has since worked as cardiologist and department chief at a number of leading hospitals in Georgia. She is also an author of many scientific works and her research has been published in reputed medical journals. In 2012-2014, she has led a state-funded research on Detection of Uncontrolled Arterial Hypertension and Hypertension - Related Cardiometabolic Risk Factors in Urgent Care Medical staff. She is also conducting a research focused on assessing of prevalence and potential risks of early repolarization syndrome in Georgian population. She has published more than 40 articles in peer reviewed journals and held over 25 presentations at various international conferences. She is EAPC (European Association of Preventive Cardiology) Silver and ESC (European Society of Cardiology) Professional member. Ketevan Chagunava has been serving as deputy chief editor of the journal “Gerontology and Geriatrics.”
