Biography

Manoj Nargund is a trained Pharmacologist (MD), & holds a diploma in Pharmaceutical Business Management from Mumbai, India, & is currently based at Singapore. He has been on teaching faculty for Pharmacology for medical & pharmacy graduates and as an Asia Pacific Medical Affairs & Clinical R&D professional in the pharmaceutical industry for the last 21 years. He is passionate about learning & implementing strategies for addressing the issue of anti-microbial resistance (AMR), & patient needs for neglected tropical diseases. His extensive pharmaceutical industry knowledge, domain expertise in multiple therapy areas, and management of large, cross-functional and multicultural international teams in a complex matrix environment, demonstrates his professional value in being an effective communicator, balancing process compliance with patient-centered business needs, with people management skills, and an adaptable and innovative approach.


Research Interest

His research interest emphasizes on infectious diseases & vaccines, to address unmet therapeutic needs of patients with various bacterial, fungal & viral infections. Some of his key achievements in the area of infectious diseases include - leading global clinical trials in typhoid & malaria; introduction of anti-HIV/anti-HBV therapies, newer beta-lactams (penems/cephalosporins) including in ICU/critical care infections, & newer fluoroquinolones including in MDR/XDR-TB; leading Influenza Pandemic Preparedness Project as coordinator for India; leading Survey of Antibiotic Resistance(SOAR) for Asia
