Biography

Marcano Marcano Lozada spent last 15 years in the Medical Microbiology unit at Centro Ortopedico Podologico, Centro Dermatologico Misticone and finally at Angios Vascular Center. Right now, still his activities as Aggregate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Central University of Venezuela (Jose Maria Vargas School of Medicine). Marcano has held positions as Medical Manager for Hepatitis C in Abbott Laboratories Venezuela, and previously as Medical Manager for Specialty Care, previously he works as Medical Scientific Liaison -MSL-(Stendhal) and Phase IV Medical Research Manager (Novartis), and has been a member of respected national and international Advisory Boards and Principal Investigator at national and international level; in addition to continuing as an active infectious and allergic diseases researcher, with emphasis in biofilm disease, chronic osteomyelitis, diabetic foot infections, bacterial resistance, autoimmune pathology associated with Helicobacter pylori infection, emerging parasitosis; with over 12 years experience in the private practice of Medical Microbiology and over 15 years as a Professor at the Central University of Venezuela (Pre and Postgraduate level for various medical specialties). He also has been active in the management of cancer patients as Deputy Specialist for the Oncological Internal Medicine Service and Infectious Diseases Unit at Luis Razetti Cancer Institute. With a number of publications and presentations at national and international level, his research has been recognized by the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) with the award as LatinAmerican Fellow at New York University (2004) and numerous medical and scientific societies mentions & awards. Training & capacitation were part of his interest, and take advantage of his teaching formation in these activities at various fields (pharma, community, etc).
