Biography

Prof. Leszek Adam Dobrzański, DSc, PhD, MSc, Eng, Hon. Prof., M Dr HC is currently a Full Professor of Materials Engineering, Nanotechnology, Biomaterials, Medical, Dental and Manufacturing Engineering, Management and Organisation and the Director of the Science Centre ASKLEPIOS of the Medical and Dental Engineering Centre for Research, Design and Production ASKLEPIOS Ltd in Gliwice, Poland and Principal Investigator and the Supervisory Council Chairman of the Centre. He is a Fellow of the Materials Science Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) and the President of the Metallic Materials Section of this Committee, and a Member of several Sections of the Metallurgy Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and Committee of Machine Design of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He is a Vice President and a Fellow of the Academy of Engineers in Poland. He is a foreign Fellow of the Ukrainian Academy of Engineering Sciences, and a foreign Fellow of the Slovak Academy of Engineering Sciences. He is the President of the World Academy of Materials and Manufacturing Engineering, and a President of the international scientific society – the Association of Computational Materials Science and Surface Engineering. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the “Journal of Achievements in Materials and Manufacturing Engineering”, “Archives of Materials Science and Engineering” and “Open Access Library”. Permanently, in 1971-2017, he worked at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, Poland He was Full Professor, Vice Rector, Dean of the Faculty, Director of the Institute and Head of Division at this University. He was conferred abroad a title Honorary Professor at the National University „Lviv Polytechnic” in Lviv in Ukraine in 2017 and 3 times a titles of Doctor Honoris Causa in 1999 at the University of Ruse in Bulgaria, and in 2007 at the Khmelnitsky National University in Khmelnitsky in Ukraine and again in 2016 at the Miskolc University in Miskolc in Hungary. The published creative scientific output of Prof. Leszek A. Dobrzański of the international significance pertains to materials science, surface engineering, nanotechnology, biomaterials and bioengineering, computer aided engineering materials design and modelling of their structure and properties. His scientific output includes about 2300 scientific publications with others currently in printing, including about 50 books and monographs and 40 chapters in books and monographs. Prof. Leszek A. Dobrzański has been cited ca. 12000 times and has 55 position in ranking most citited Polish scientists of all scientific disciplines and is included to the group of 5% most readied Authors on the Academia Platform.
