Dr. Peng Xu received Ph.D. degree in Cell Biology from Hebei Normal University (China) in 2013. He worked as assistant professor, 2013-2016, at Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (China) where his research was focused on studying environmental microbes using microfluidic technology. He developed a vibration-based droplet generation system, which was independent of microfluidic devices and applied to different studies, such as digital quantification of pathogens. He joined Dr. Adam Abate's group as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, San Francisco in 2017. His current work is on mining microbial resources from a variety of environment using different droplet microfluidic workflows.
