Biography

Douglas A. Feldman, Ph.D. is a Professor Emeritus of Anthropology at The College at Brockport, State University of New York, former Chair of the Department of Anthropology, and former President of the Society for Medical Anthropology. He has conducted extensive HIV/AIDS social and epidemiological research in the United States, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, Senegal, and Hungary. He is the author/editor of the following books: The Social Dimensions of AIDS: Method and Theory (1986); Culture and AIDS (1990); Global AIDS Policy (1994); The AIDS Crisis: A Documentary History (1998); AIDS, Culture, and Africa (2008); Ethnicity and Health Care Delivery: Sexually Transmitted Diseases (2009); and AIDS, Culture, and Gay Men (2010). He was a Visiting Professor at the University of Debrecen in Hungary; Research Associate Professor at the University of Miami School of Medicine; Professor, Institute Director, and Academic Director at Nova Southeastern University; and founding Executive Director of the AIDS Center of Queens County.

AIDS social research, global policy issues, health policy analysis, medical anthropology, applied anthropology, human sexuality, social epidemiology, health demography, health education, qualitative research methods, HIV prevention and interventions, evaluation of health services; United States, sub-Saharan Africa, Zambia and Hungary.
