Dr. Guo-Ping Shi is an Associate Professor of Harvard Medical School and Biochemist of Brigham and Women's Hospital. His group is interested in the roles of cysteinyl cathepsins and inflammatory cells (mast cells, T cells, macrophages) in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular, metabolic, and autoimmune diseases. His research experience covers from human patient biochemical studies, mouse experimental models, cellular and molecular mechanisms, to small molecule and antibody therapy development.
His research team has longstanding interest in the roles of lysosomal cysteine proteases cathepsins and inflammatory cells, mainly mast cells in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, abdominal aortic aneurysms, obesity, and diabetes
