Biography

Benoit Chenais is currently leading his career as a Professor in Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry in Le Mans University, France, since February 2005. He obtained his doctoral degree (PhD) in Paris-XI University, Orsay in February 1994. He was the PhD fellow of the National League against cancer. He finished his Masters in Cell Physiology and Biochemistry in Paris-XI University in June 1990. He had done his bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics in Paris-XI University in June 1989. He has the experience of Visiting Researcher in the team of Dr. Volker Blank (McGill University, Montreal) Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research, Montreal, Canada Funded under the INSERM/Canadian Institute of Health Research exchange program from April 2003 to February 2004. He had worked as an Assistant Professor in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Genetics in University of Reims, France. He was an Editor-in-chief in Open Journal of Genetics(SCIRP, since 2012) and Editorial Board Member in Gene(Elsevier, since 2013) and some Open Access Publications and also a Reviewer for several International Journals. He has done many international publications.


Research Interest

Nutritional benefits of microalgae towards metabolic syndrome. Effect of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) on cancer cell fate (proliferation, apoptosis, invasion). Regulation and inhibition of Rad51-mediated DNA recombination in cancer cells.Stress response in microalgae, transcription factors and transposable elements. Transposable elements in marine invertebrates and insects.Stress response in marine invertebrates, coastal vs hydrothermal, pollutant response-ecotoxicology. Transcription factors and oxidative stress in leukemic cell differentiation, cell invasion Nitric oxide, metabolism, gene regulation and antiproliferative effect.
