Biography

He completed MD from the University of Copenhagen 1978 and DM in 1986. In 1991 he became leading consultant at the Department of Rheumatology at the Copenhagen District Hospital. Since 1997 HB has been employed at Frederiksberg Hospital as leading consultant and research professor at The Parker Institute. From 1990 to 2005 Henning Bliddal was the leader and main teacher of the postgraduate courses for specialising in rheumatology. He has participated in judging committees for professorships, PhDs and doctoral theses. HB is the author of several textbook chapters and co-author of more than 150 peer-reviewed articles. At international and national congresses he has made over 76 speeches, frequently as invited speaker. Since 2005 HB has been the chairman of The Danish National Board of Health's commission for treatment of knee osteoarthritis. At The Parker Institute Henning Bliddal is tutor of PhD students and the architect of numerous research projects.


Research Interest

His clinical research aims at increasing the knowledge of treatments for the major groups of diseases, including degenerative musculoskeletal diseases such as osteoarthritis, immuno-inflammatory diseases of joints, especially rheumatoid arthritis, soft tissue pain conditions
