Biography

Gunars Duburs is a Latvian chemist. Doctor of Chemistry, Professor of Chemistry at the University of Latvia (1988). Member of the Latvian Academy of Sciences (1992). In 1971, he patented a new antioxidant, radioprotector and growth promoter. In 1979, he defended a PhD in Chemistry and in 1980 he was appointed Deputy Director of OSI in his research work. In 1984, he patented a new formulation for improving the brain's bloodstream and treating diabetes with the name "Cerebrokrasts". In 1988 he was elected Professor of Chemistry at the University of Latvia.

Heterocyclic Chemistry (mainly partially hydrogenated azines: dihydro- (tetrahydro-) pyridines, pyrimidines, polycyclic derivatives).

In 1984, he patented a new formulation for improving the brain's bloodstream and treating diabetes with the name "Cerebrokrasts". In 1988 he was elected professor of chemistry at the University of Latvia, in 1990 as the corresponding member of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, and in 1992, he is a member of the LAS. In 2002, he was awarded the status of a Latvian State emeritus scientist, in 2006 the World Intellectual Property Organization Gunars Duburam was awarded a gold medal and a diploma on numerous patented inventions in medical chemistry, in particular on the invention and implementation of the radio protector Dieton in oncology clinics.
