Biography

Dr. Dai has completed his PhD from Duke University and postdoctoral studies from Harvard Medical School. He is now the Director of the Center for Regenerative Medicine, Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology at Chinese Academy of Sciences. He as been working on regenerative medicine research and product development. His team has developed functional collagen scaffolds with growth factors and stem cell binding abilities which could actively induce a variety of tissue regeneration. He has published over 200 papers in reputed journals in the field of regenerative medicine. He has been serving as the Editor-in-Chief of Biomedical Materials (IOP Publishing, Bristol BS1 6HG England ) starting January 2020. Dr Dai has spent 20 years on the research for spinal cord injury repair. His team has developed collagen based scaffold for spinal cord repair (NeuroRegen scaffold), created completely spinal cord transected large animal models (canines and non-human primates). He has proposed that the endogenous neurogenesis is the main mechanism for the completely transected spinal cord repair. He has pioneered several collagen scaffold based tissue regeneration clinical studies including spinal cord injury repair by NeuroRegen scaffold in 2014
