Biography

Dr. Hanne van Ballegooijen is a nutritional-epidemiologist and assistant professor at the VU Medical Center Amsterdam at the department of Nephrology. She has a particular interest in how nutrition and mineral metabolism markers affect cardiovascular disease risk. During her PhD she studied the complexity of vitamin D metabolism and related factors with cardiovascular health.In 2016, she got awarded with a personal grant of the Dutch Kidney Foundation to continue her research on vitamin D and K with vascular calcification in kidney patients.

Research Interest

Her ultimate goal is to investigate nutrition and lifestyle determinants in the etiology of cardiovascular disease and chronic kidney disease, and connect different disciplines to contribute to lower cardiovascular morbidity.
