Biography

Dr. Blaih received his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Kent State University. Elected to the Council of ExpertsExpert Committee on Gastrointestinal, Renal, and Endocrine of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP). For more than 190 years, the USP has been the official standards-setting authority for all prescription and over-the-counter medicines, dietary supplements, and other healthcare products manufactured and sold in the United States. USP’s drug standards are enforceable in the United States and relied upon in more than 140 countries Dr. Blaih is a worldwide invited speaker on quality of medicines and compendia standards, pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine, medication safety, drug stability, genotoxicities, and process analytical technology. Dr. Blaih has served as two-time president of The American Chemical Society-Penn Ohio Section, and is a Fellow of The Royal Society of Chemistry, a member of The American College of Clinical Pharmacology, and The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. His biography has been included in Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who in America. Dr. Blaih received his Ph.D. in Pharmacy from The Ohio State University, where he was also a visiting professor. He has been teaching pharmacy and chemistry for more than 25 years. He has published/presented numerous articles in clinical pharmacology, pharmaceutical analysis and pharmacy/chemical education and was the invited speaker at several worldwide conferences and symposia. Dr. Blaih is a reviewer for Spectrochimica Acta: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy and has reviewed several textbooks and journal articles. Dr. Blaih is a board-certified pharmacist and is a member of The Ohio Pharmacists Association and Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society. Dr. Blaih was a recipient of Alexandria University’s Medal in Research Excellence. He is also a member of Rotary International.


Research Interest

His research interest includes pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine, medication safety, drug stability, genotoxicities, and process analytical technology.
