Biography

Professor Dr. Md. Kabirul Islam Khan has been working as a professor at the Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University since 2004. He received PhD degree in Science (major in Animal Breeding and Genetics) from Massey University, New Zealand in 2010. He has served more than 22 years on researchers, teaching and international collaborators in the field of animal production, animal breeding and genetics. In addition in his academic carrier he has served the university as registrar, proctor and dean of the faculty. Currently, he is serving as a Director of Research and Extension from 2015 at the university. He has published more than 50 scientific articles in national and international peer reviewed referred journals. He supervised 01 PhD and 10 Master s students and currently he is supervising 02 PhD and 04 Masters Students. He has completed 06 research projects as principal investigator. He is conducting 03 research projects (i) increasing livestock and poultry production in hilly of Bangladesh, (ii) Bangladesh-Sweden collaborative project: sexual selection and adaptation during avian domestication: comparative genomics of Red Jungle Fowl and indigenous chickens of Bangladesh; and (iii) climatic factors those affects poultry production in Bangladesh.


Research Interest

His future research interest is (i) to genomic signals of RJF and domestic chickens and improves sustainability and yield of rural domestic poultry production; (ii) effects of climatic changes on livestock and poultry production in Bangladesh; and (iii) alternative growth promoter as feed additive for commercial poultry production.
