Biography

Syamsul Rizal Abd Shukor obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering from University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom and specializes in process control and simulation. He received his B. Eng (Honours) in Chemical Engineering from University of Bradford in 1997 and M.Sc (Chemical Engineering) from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2000. He is currently an Associate Professor in School of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia. His research interests include process intensification, process modeling and simulation as well as separation technologies. Currently he is extensively working on process intensification technologies related to miniaturization of reaction vessels with its microfluidic properties, CFD analysis complete with its process automation, monitoring and control. He also has served as a Principle Investigator on various research projects funded by national ministries and research agencies. He has authored and published more than 100 peer-reviewed technical publication for national and international journals and conferences. He also has served as review panel for international and national high impact refereed journals and scientific proceedings. He is an active member of Society of Engineering Education Malaysia, Malaysian Automatic Control Engineers Society and Malaysia Process Control Consortium.
