Biography

I have/had been involved in various projects which focus on livestock. These include, Washera sheep breed improvement program in Ethiopia, community based Fogera cattle breed improvement program in Ethiopia, harnessing production and productivity of indigenous goat populations in Africa. In the latter project, I have carried out Genome-wide characterization of African goats, genome-wide linkage disequilibrium and selection signature analyses of East, West and North African goat populations and identified several genes and pathways for selected traits of interest which include hair fibers for highland/alpine goats, drought tolerance for goats found in arid environment, reproduction, and trypanotolerance for humid and forest goat populations in Ethiopia and Cameroon. Since very recently, I have been involved in African cattle genome project.
