Session1: Forensic Science: Latest Research, Technology and Innovation

Just as medical research is crucial for advancing public health, sustained progress in the research underlying forensic science is critical for advancing public safety and the administration of justice. Strengthening science to improve justice is a key goal of the National Institute of Justice. As technology infiltrates every aspect of our lives, it is no wonder that solving crimes has become almost futuristic in its advances. From retinal scanning to trace evidence chemistry, actual forensic technologies are so advanced at helping to solve crimes that they seem like something from a science fiction thriller.

Session2: Forensic Biology & Genetics

Like many applications of molecular diagnostics, the field of forensic biology is undergoing a phase of expansion and diversification. The growth of forensic DNA databases and adoption of sophisticated analytical methods have catalyzed this increasing role. The range of molecular markers exploited in the fight against crime is beginning to increase too, and genes implying personal or physical characteristics are emerging in the research literature. However, the operational context of forensic biology is unlike many other fields of science.

Session3: Forensic Nursing

Forensic Nursing is defined as the application of the nursing process to public or legal proceedings, and the application of forensic health care in the scientific investigation of trauma and/or death related to abuse, violence, criminal activity, liability, and accidents.

Session4: Finger Print Analysis

Forensic Fingerprint analysis has been used to identify criminals for more than one hundred years. The process begins with a deposited, or “latent,” print found at the scene of the crime. In other words, there is no scientific basis for the belief that fingerprints are unique to each person

Session5: Digital Reconstruction

It is the process of reconstruction of a disappeared building or modified over time, by means of 3D computer graphics programs, typically starting from archival documents and surveys.

Session6: Forensic Radiology

Forensic radiology is the discipline which comprises the performance, interpretation and reportage of the radiological examinations and procedures which are needed in court procedures or law enforcement. Radiological methods are widely used in identification, age estimation and establishing cause of death.

Session7: Forensic Biotechnology

Forensic Biotechnology deals with the study and investigation of genomic information for the identification of specific signatures. The data obtained from forensic biotechnology are utilized by the legal system to make necessary interpretations about criminals.

Session8: Modern Developments in Forensic Science

Rapid DNA. This new forensic technology, developed by the Department of Homeland Security can use DNA to make family connections in times of crisis. ... And of course, forensic analysts can use this tech to help solve crimes. Unlike other breakthroughs, this technology is fairly easy to use, and requires little training.

Session9: Statistical Methods in Forensic Science

Forensic Statistics is the application of probability models and statistical techniques to scientific evidence, such as DNA evidence, and the law. This ratio of probabilities is then used by juries or judges to draw inferences or conclusions and decide legal matters

Session10: Forensic Chemistry and Toxicology

Forensic Chemistry and Toxicological To a large extent, the research serves to uncover the use and misuse of illicit substances, medication and anabolic steroids, as well as mechanisms of action and toxicity. This may be simple explanations of the structure of new, illegal designer drugs, examinations of their metabolism (see the section on metabolomics), determination of purity in effects, as well as in biological samples such as blood, saliva or hair.

Seesion11: Cyber Security Forensics (CSF)

They're the people who collect, process, preserve, and analyze computer-related evidence. They help identify network vulnerabilities and then develop ways to mitigate them. They go deep inside networks, computers, and smartphones in search of evidence of criminal activity.

Session12: Forensic Sociology

Social scientists play an increasingly important role in the prosecution and defense of both criminal and civil matters before the courts. An expanding area of forensic sociology and criminology involves the analysis of crime foreseeability and security standards of care as they relate to the question of liability for negligent security. Criminologists analyze prior crimes at a location and consider the totality of circumstances in order to determine foreseeability.

Session13: Crime Scene Investigation

A body washes up on a lonely stretch of beach. A fire in a methamphetamine lab devastates an apartment building. A car accident claims the life of a driver during her trip home. These are all potential crime scenes. By conducting a systematic examination of these areas, crime scene investigators uncover the physical evidence to help identify what happened and who was involved. This process must be conducted carefully and thoroughly to ensure that crucial evidence is collected and fragile evidence is not destroyed in the process.

Session14: Forensic Accounting

Forensic accounting utilizes accounting, auditing, and investigative skills to conduct an examination into the finances of an individual or business.  Forensic accounting is frequently used in fraud and embezzlement cases to explain the nature of a financial crime in court. Forensic accounting, forensic accountancy or financial forensics is the specialty practice area of accounting that investigates whether firms engage in financial reporting misconduct. Forensic accountants apply a range of skills and methods to determine whether there has been financial reporting misconduct.
