Why Amsterdam?

Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands is famous for its elaborate canal system and beautiful architecture. It is also one of the most popular tourist dentation in Europe with artistic heritage and houses. Some thousands of buildings dating from the 16th to 18th centuries are crowded into an area of 2,000 acres, dissected by 160 canals, themselves home to numerous houseboats. Amsterdam is also having more than 40 museums, many theatres, and entertainment venues. Due to its innovative developments in trade, it became one of the most important ports in the world during the Dutch Golden Age. The city was the leading centre for finance and diamonds that time. The 17th century canals of Amsterdam and the 19th–20th century defence line of Amsterdam are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is regarded as an alpha world city by the Globalization and World Cities study group. Many leading technology companies have their European headquarters in Amsterdam, such as Uber, Netflix and Tesla. It was ranked the second best city to live in by the Economist Intelligence Unit and 12th globally on quality of living for environment and infrastructure by Mercer. Amsterdam has many things to offer international students in terms of its it’s universities, academies, and research institutes.
