Biography

Nathan Premkumar received his PhD (Chemistry) from Bharathiar University (India), where he carried out his doctoral research in the laboratory of Prof. S. Govindarajan. He was a Senior Research Fellow (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India) from 2002–2004 at Bharathiar University. He joined the laboratory of Prof. K. E. Geckeler at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (South Korea) as a postdoctoral fellow and he was promoted as a research professor in the same group in 2008. Currently, he works as an Associate Professor at University College, Department of Chemistry, Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea. He received the “Best Out-going Post Graduation Student Award” from his college and the “Young Scientist Award” (2001) from the Indian Council of Chemists. His research interests include nanostructured materials, inorganic metal complexes, biomaterials, the chemistry of macrocycles, supramolecular and host-guest chemistry.


Research Interest

Nanostructured Materials: Synthesis and characterization of metal and metal oxide nanoparticles, nanocarbon materials and their polymer/biopolymer composites etc. for catalytic, biomedical and biosensor applications. Host-Gust Chemistry, Biomaterials, Inclusion Complexes, Chemistry of Macrocycles, and Inorganic Metal (Hydrazine) Complexes
