Biography

Frits R. Rosendaal (1959) is professor of Clinical Epidemiology at the LeidenUniversityMedicalCenter, The Netherlands, where he chairs the department of Clinical Epidemiology and is co-appointed at the department of Thrombosis and Haemostasis. He studied medicine in Rotterdam and obtained his PhD at LeidenUniversity .

Research Interest

His main research interest is haemostasis and thrombosis and he published over 750 papers in the field. He designed the Leiden Thrombophilia Study (LETS) and MEGA study, that have been instrumental in the identification of a series of risk factors for thrombosis, such as factor V Leiden and prothrombin 20210A. Currently, he focusses on obesity-related reserach in the NEO-study and HIV/AIDS
