Scientific Session 01: Chronic Kidney Disease

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a wide-reaching public health problem, with adverse outcomes of kidney failure, cardiovascular disease (CVD), kidney cancer and premature death. CKD is defined as kidney damage or glomerular filtration rate (GFR) <60 mL/min/1.73 m2 for 3 months or more. Better Development, dissemination, and implementation of clinical practice guidelines are resources to improve outcomes of CKD. Risk factors for chronic kidney disease are high level of proteinuria, higher blood pressure level, and poor glycemic control in diabetes, Diabetes, high blood pressure, autoimmune diseases, low birth weight, racial or ethnic minority status.

Scientific Session 02: Acute Kidney Injury

Acute kidney injury, previously known as acute renal failure, encompasses a wide spectrum of injury to the kidneys, not just kidney failure. Symptoms may include anorexia, nausea, and vomiting, Fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base disorders or coma may occur in severe cases. Factors that predispose a person to AKI include advanced age, especially in individuals with such comorbidities as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiac disease. With age comes a progressive decline in renal function. Researchers currently are looking for and validating more accurate, actual diagnostic biomarkers to allow early detection of AKI. Nephrology Research shows that even small changes in kidney function ominously affect outcomes in patients with AKI.

Scientific Session 03: Pediatric Nephrology

Kidneys grow with age and achieve adult length by approximately 18 years of age. During fetal life, the kidneys are lobulated, but a lobular appearance is present even at birth. Thereafter, the external kidney surface becomes smooth as the kidney grows. It is becoming increasingly apparent that the number of nephrons endowed at birth has an important bearing on the susceptibility to hypertension and chronic kidney disease as adults. By 9 weeks of gestation, the kidneys attain their adult positions. At the earliest stage of kidney formation, the renal arteries are derived as branches of the common iliac arteries. During kidney development, the site of ureteric bud outgrowth is invariant, precisely positioned, and the number of outgrowths is limited to one. It is believed that outgrowth of a single ureteric bud at the appropriate position is controlled by mesenchymal factors that restrict the location of ureteric bud outgrowth.

Scientific Session 03: Diabetic Nephropathy

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is the most common cause of chronic kidney failure. Diabetic nephropathy, also known as Kimmelstiel Wilson syndrome or nodular diabetic glomerulosclerosis is a clinical syndrome characterized by albuminuria (>300 mg/day or >200 mcg/min) confirmed on at least two occasions 3-6 months apart, permanent and irreversible decrease in glomerular filtration rate. Increasing duration of DM, poor glycemic control, and uncontrolled hypertension are strong risk factors for the development of diabetic nephropathy (DN).

Market value on Nephrology Research:

As indicated by latest statistics report, about 26 million middle-aged apart from young and old individuals are experiencing Chronic Kidney disease complications and a large number of others are at expanded risk. Medical expenditures per person every year with kidney sickness increment from $15,000 in stage 3 to $28,000 in stage 4 to more than $70,000 in stage 5. Consistently medicare spent almost $28.6 billion to treat individuals with a kidney disorder. National Kidney Foundation has given more than $100 million for research work. Every year the US bore $41 billion or 17% of their Medicare spending plan on individuals with kidney sicknesses. The quantities of Kidney Transplantations are apparently high and in the time of 2013 alone, there are around 15000 kidney transplantations. Being one of the significant fields of internal medicine, Nephrological Research got a subsidizing of more than 5 billion dollars yearly over the globe. Almost $560 million is being subsidized on Kidney ailments alone every year because of the quick increment for the danger of renal disorder.
