Track 01: Neurology and Dementia

Clinical studies in neurology research include new treatments for onset of symptoms of Alzheimer's disease, patrimonial trends in neurological diseases, new therapies and treatments for epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and other conditions. Dementia may occur at any age but affects mostly older people. Dementia affects mainly memory, is typically caused by anatomic changes in the brain, has slower onset, and is usually irreversible. It is defined as loss of cognitive functioning — thinking, remembering, and reasoning. Drugs, particularly Long-acting benzodiazepines and anticholinergics like some tricyclic antidepressants, antihistamines, and antipsychotics may temporarily cause or worsen the symptoms of dementia. The researchers found that anticholinergic drugs in general were associated with a higher risk of dementia.

Track 02: Alzheimers and Parkinsons Diseases

Parkinson disease is a slowly progressive, chronic neurological disease. Parkinson disease is characterized by tremor at rest, rigidity and slowness or difficulty in initiating and executing movement. Alzheimer's disease is a progressive neurologic disorder and is the most common form of dementia. Alzheimer’s disease is currently ranked as the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. Scientists don’t yet fully understand what causes Alzheimer’s disease in most people. In people with early-onset Alzheimer’s, a genetic mutation is usually the cause. Late-onset Alzheimer’s arises from a complex series of brain changes that occur over decades.

Track 03: Neuropharmacology and Neurochemistry

Understanding both psychopharmacology and addiction are very important for professionals who work with people struggling with substance abuse. Neuropharmacology is the study of the effects of drugs on the nervous system and its primary focus is the actions of medications for psychiatric and neurologic disorders as well as those of drugs of abuse. As a consequence, neuropharmacology has an increasing potential to contribute to the effective treatment of myriad health problems, including addiction, Alzheimer's, chronic pain and psychiatric disorders. Neurochemistry is the branch of neuroscience devoted to the study of neurochemicals. While research on the endocannabinoid system is still an emerging field, scientists have already identified a myriad of biological functions that it regulates. Cannabinoids play a role in neurodevelopment, memory, appetite, immune responses, mood regulation and how we feel pain.

Track 04: Neuropsychology and Cognitive Neuroscience

Neuropsychology is the science concerning the functioning of the brain with cognitive and emotional experience and behaviour. COVID-19 is known to affect the respiratory system but may also have an impact on other organ systems, including the brain. The mechanism by which COVID-19 influences cognitive dysfunction is unknown but is likely multi-factorial. Among the most widely hypothesized factors are the neuroinflammatory responses subsequent from a prolonged state of systemic inflammation that disrupts the blood-brain-barrier and damages neural and glial cells; other factors may include cerebrovascular ischemia, acute respiratory distress syndrome. Cognitive neuroscience seeks to discover the biological foundations of the human mind. Almost all psychologists say that mental representations are important in affecting behavior.

Track 05: Neurorehabilitation and Multiple Sclerosis

Neurorehabilitation is the clinical subspecialty that is devoted to the restoration and maximization of functions that have been lost due to impairments caused by injury or disease of nervous system. Specialist rehabilitation is the total active care of patients with a disabling condition. Generally, patients requiring specialist rehabilitation are those with complex disabilities. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease of the central nervous system (CNS) characterized by chronic inflammation, demyelination, gliosis, and neuronal loss. Like other autoimmune diseases, MS is believed to be caused by a combination of environmental and genetic factors that result in a loss of tolerance to self-proteins. There is no single specific diagnostic test available, but in practice, the diagnosis can be made clinically in most people.

Track 06: Neurosurgery and Spine

Neurosurgery is the discipline in medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of the central, peripheral, and autonomic nervous system. The specialty of neurosurgical care includes both adult and pediatric patients. Dependent upon the nature of the injury or disease a neurological surgeon may provide surgical and/or non-surgical care. Neurosurgeons provide the operative and non-operative management (i.e., prevention, diagnosis, evaluation, treatment, critical care and rehabilitation) of neurological disorders. Spine-related disorders are a prominent cause of global disability and are a burden on society and to public health.

Track 07: Neuroimmunology and Spinal Reflex

Immune and inflammatory responses not only fight pathogens but also play a variety of physiological roles in the central nervous system. Neuroimmunology is increasingly acknowledged as a field with the potential to deliver a significant positive impact on human health and treatment for neurological and psychiatric disorders. Microglias are brain-resident immune cells and play multiple roles in the protection from pathogens and the clearance of debris. Here would like to discuss about Neuron-microglia interaction, Autoantibodies associated with neurological diseases, Current biomarkers for pediatric immune-mediated neurological diseases. Spinal reflexes are substantial components of the motor control system in all vertebrates and Spinal reflexes are strongly influenced by control centers within the brain.

Track 08: Sleep Disorders and Stroke

Sleep is a dynamic and regulated set of behavioral and physiological states during which many processes vital to health and well-being take place. Sleep problems and disorders are very common and in fact it is estimated that approximately 1/3 of the population will be affected by one in their life. Sleep problems can be caused by various factors like medical issues, Physical disturbances and Psychiatric disorders such as depression and anxiety and many other. Sleep talking is a sleep disorder defined as talking during sleep without being aware of it.  A stroke occurs when a blockage or bleed of the blood vessels either intrudes or reduces the supply of blood to the brain and hemorrhagic stroke happens when a blood vessel in the brain bursts and spills blood into or around the brain.

Track 09: Neuroendocrinology

It is a branch of the life sciences dealing with neuro-secretion and the physiological interaction between the central nervous system and the endocrine system. Hormones regulate a number of functions, including the way we behave, and our emotions. The neuroendocrine system encompasses a wide range of systems including how we cope and respond to stress, growth and metabolism, reproduction, our body clocks and sleep habits, giving birth, eating and drinking, and milk production. Neuroendocrinology, rather than being substantially different from the field of endocrinology, which is the study of hormones, studies the interaction between hormones and the brain.

Track 11: Stem Cells and Neuroregeneration

The nervous system is a complex network of nerves which coordinates its activities by the transmission of signals to and from different body regions. Neuroregeneration refers to the regrowth or repair of nervous tissues, cells or cell materials. Specifically, stem cell therapy represents a personalized, localized, and probably fruitful alternative in patient care, and is the subject of ongoing research. Central nervous system (CNS) diseases, such as cerebrovascular diseases, Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and Parkinson’s disease (PD), mainly involve the injury, degeneration, and loss of neural cells.

Track 12: Neuroimaging and ADHD

Neuroimaging is the discipline that deals with the in vivo depiction of anatomy and function of the central nervous system (CNS) in health and disease. Neuroimaging, or brain scanning, is a process of producing images of the brain or other parts of the nervous system.  Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common childhood disorders and can continue through adolescence and adulthood. Treatments can relieve many of the disorder’s symptoms, but there is no cure. Many parents report excessive motor activity during the toddler years, but ADHD symptoms can be hard to distinguish from the impulsivity, inattentiveness and active behavior.
