The Foundation of Las Vegas 
 
For a long time Native Americans lived in the territory where Las Vegas now stands. They developed corn and squashes. At that point in 1829 a Spanish broker named Antonio Armijo drove a gathering of men through the region. They called it Las Vegas (Spanish for 'The Meadows'). At that point in 1844 an American named John C Fremont of the US Topographical Corps investigated the district. When the railroad was finished another town was established. 
 
The Growth of Las Vegas 
 
The city of Las Vegas was joined in 1911. Around then it was a little settlement with a populace of around 1,000. In any case it soon developed considerably bigger. By 1920 Las Vegas had a populace of more than 2,000. At that point in 1931 work started on building the Hoover Dam. Accordingly the number of inhabitants in Las Vegas blasted. In the interim the territory of Nevada authorized betting in 1931 and clubhouse were established in Las Vegas. In 1941 El Rancho Vegas opened as the principal resort on The Strip.
